Chinese artist Zhou Yunhua was born in 1935 in Yixing, Jiangsu province. He studied early by himself and later became a member of Chinese Artists Association. He was granted the title Chinese Superior Artist in 1989, an honor he retains today, and used to work as the vice-president of the Changzhou Liu Haisu Art Museum. His Chinese Painting, Surrounded by winds, snows and clouds was selected for exhibit in The National Art Exhibition in 1977. Since then, more than 200 of his masterpieces have been on display in both domestic and overseas exhibitions, many receiving reviews and comment from leading newspapers. Collections of his Chinese Paintings and Paper-cuts have been acquired and retained by the Chinese Art Museum, Chinese Military Museum, Jiangsu Art Museum, Guangdong Art Museum and the Shanghai Liu Haisu Art Museum. In 1994, his large Chinese painting, Picture of the Glorious Morning, was displayed and subsequently published by Beijing Tian'an Men Tower. In 1989 People Art Press published his Chinese Painting Selection. Then in 1998, Guangdong Art Museum published his paper-cuts, Silhouettes of Jiangnan, which was filmed and played by CCTV, JSTV and other TV stations. In 2000, the Chinese painting collections of Zhou Yunhua were published by Hongkong People Art Press, with Silhouettes of Jiangnan Calendar published by the Qingyunge Art Co. Ltd. The calendars--- Depiction of Yanling and Be Flushed With Success were also published in succession by Qingyunge Art Co., Ltd.in 2001 and 2002. Also, Reminiscences of Jiangnan, the Zhou family paper-cutting collection, has been published by Beijing International Art Foundation. His biography was collected and published by more than 10 reference works, such as the Chinese Art Yearbook. |
