. Biography of Claude MALATTIA .

I have begun to drawn in 1953, I was 9 years old. I learnt painting with Jean JUES, a famous caricaturist and painter with water-colours, from Aix-en-Provence who was a friend of my parents.

I did my first gouache in 1957. Two years later, I win the second price of the painting competition organized by the tourist office from Aix-en-Provence, during carnival.

I am 16 years old when I chose to express myself with the oil painting. I learnt by myself and with the local artists advices. From 1961 till 1975, I followed painting lessons at the Arts college from Aix-en-Provence then I went in Paris.

Unfortunately, from 1976 to 2004 the circumstances of the life didn’t allow me to follow the way I have chosen and to  dedicate me completely to the painting.
But, now, I’m free to express my art as I wish.

I paint what I feels on the moment. First, I don’t have any precise idea, but a landscape, people around me are able to seduce me, give me inspiration and I need to express my feelings through the painting.

I’m able to work again and again my painting, the eye, the imagination are always on the alert and a work can be never ended …

It is necessary to be very concentrated on the forms, the harmony of colors because they can get lost very fast, be betrayed …

In painting, there is no system, it is necessary to learn all the time
